About the Artist
Ava Fathi
Born in Iran in 1986, Ava Fathi is a multidisciplinary artist whose preferred mediums are painting and sculpture. After three years of studying graphic design and illustration at the University of the Arts in Tehran, she moved to Paris, where she graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts in 2015.
Drawing inspiration from her personal experiences and a sensibility heightened by a charged political environment, she creates a dichotomous aesthetic through two distinct modes of representation.
Her painting is diverse, ranging from landscapes and animal subjects to her ultimate focus: portraiture. In contrast, her work in soapstone, limestone, and plaster is entirely abstract.
